Fused Mullite is produced by fusing high purity alumina and silica together in an electric arc furnace in the proper ratios. The result is a needle-like alumina-silica grain that has low conductivity, excellent thermal shock resistance, and excellent resistance to deformation under load. Fused Mullite is one of the main raw materials used by the refractory industry for applications requiring thermal shock resistance and corrosion resistance.
